Mihael Cankar

Concept & Interaction Designer

“ I design user experiences. I spend my day drawing boxes and arrows, planning the services you'll use tomorrow. Unless I'm out among people looking at how they do things today. ”

Work

“Most reliable part of project team”
(request client and manager references)

I work on all kinds of digital services, but mobility and usefulness are my forte. Early on, I like to work with pen and paper to remain flexible. You'll also find I do a lot of mindmaps, and in meetings often work on the whiteboard, sketching ideas. Later, I'm mostly using Balsamiq, Visio or Axure, depending on the level of detail needed.

I have more than 10 years of experience in user-centred design and usability, from both in-house and agency work. I am currently the senior concept designer at Starcut and I previously worked as a usability specialist at TeliaSonera. I have co-authored two articles and co-invented one patent-worthy idea on mobile usability and hold an MSc from the Helsinki University of Technology, where I slowly pursue my academic interests.

Home

When not designing user experiences, I'm mostly playing with our two wonderful kids, constructing Lego wonders or catching snowflakes in the yard. Or photographing the kids.

When I have a moment to myself, I enjoy a good book - often something about natural sciences, or science fiction.
